Spooky Sounds

Description

This is a bumper collection of 11 instruments with various effects racks for Halloween vibes, horror atmospheres, and general creepiness.  It’s bursting with reverse effects, tense build-up sounds, weird unsettling noises, detuned and random pitched instruments, and a weird, creepy personality all of its own.

The collection is also great for bringing in an unusual or spacey freakout kind of sound as well, ranging from weird radio voices to Theremin-like instruments, from detuned analog synths to white noise ambience.

Based around EVP Ghost Voices, this collection builds on the ghostly radio/technology vibe to make something that can range from steampunk to sci-fi, never veering from a detuned horror feel.

The demos below were created using random, generative techniques and only use the sound available in this pack along with a few stock Ableton Live devices (like Utility, Compressor, Auto Pan, etc.) Processing and even mastering were kept to a minimum, so that you can hear the raw sounds that you will actually receive. All of the instruments in Spooky Sounds can be heard across the 3 demos.

All instruments are playable across the keyboard, and although there are no drum racks in this collection, Aether Keys, Spooky Laughter and Spooky Voice can all be played percussively, as can some of the others, depending on setting used. The percussive sounds in the above ‘Nightmare Chase’ demo were made with Aether Keys and a series of arpeggiators.

The 11 instruments are:

• Spooky Flexatone Rattle (ghostly wobble knocks and rattles)
• Ghost Sirens and Monster Growls (high pitched ghost noises to low-pitched monster noises)
• Spooky Synth (wobbbly detuned analog synth)
• Spooky Echo Kalimba (an ambient, pad-like kalimba/mbira, or thumb piano)
• Spooky Flute (warbling, ghostly flute)
• Spooky Voices (chattering, growling and cackling voices)
• Spooky Chaos Keys (unpredictable 1950s playable sci-fi noises)
• Spooky Laughter (weird distorted laughter, ranging from girlish giggling to monster moans and witch cackles)
